scones

I like scones, preferably savory. I also happen to enjoy bacon, gruyere, and green onions. The recipe I found over at Spoon Fork Bacon is worth making. Best scones ever. Yes they are.
Enjoy!

waiting

Hello weekenders! Isn't this the most beautiful photo ever? It is from the winter catalogue from TOAST. It nearly took my breath away.

You want to know something? I am ready for Christmas.... what? I know, I usually want to savor every moment of the fall, every moment of winter, and the truth is, I still do. But it all flies by in New York, faster than it can be truly enjoyed. Now that I am in Indiana, I am antsy for the warm fuzzies and happiness that Christmas brings. I think I even know what I want from the big guy in red. I want a nice digital camera (developing film gets exhausting) and some soft sheets with thin green or grey stripes all over them. That should do it.

Anyways, wishing you all the warmest cozies through the fall season and onto the winter.

ginger and plum

Ginger and plum make an excellent crumble. The recipe I used is HERE. This is a perfect dessert or great with yogurt for breakfast.

And since you can't bake without a good playlist, here are some nice tunes for fall.
fall, i love you! you've been making life so cozy and restful. thanks for that!

Sister

My sister is a lucky peach. She lives somewhere beautiful with her soulmate and the best dog I've ever known. They take advantage of every adventure that comes their way, and when there aren't any opportunities to seize, they make their own.

I hope I can be as cool as them someday :)

Changes

Sorry for the lack of posting and for leaving you on such a negative note there! I am working two jobs now, one at a bakery and one at an amazing boutique. I work every single day now so I apologize but I've also been working on launching a new blog. I have updated it today with my first post!

The new blog is all about baking, cooking, and the things that make me happiest. It needs more work but I had to start posting soon or I never would. I am still going to be posting pictures of life and travels here on this blog so I'm not going anywhere.

I'm Sorry But I Have To.

You guys, I am going to say this once, and one time only. I know you really don't need to hear it, but I really need to say it, so here goes......

I HATE LIVING IN INDIANA!!!!!!!!!!!

There, done and done. I know that was just as painful for you as it was for me, but it needed to happen.

Thank you for being here for me, you were fantastic.

Love, Megan

Good Things

So, Indiana has some nice things. For example I have a house, a HOUSE! And a boyfriend who let me decorate it however I wanted. I have a kitchen! I know, you likely have one as well, but this kitchen is mine, all mine! It is my sanctuary. I mean this is where the magic happens. I get to cook and bake whenever I want and whatever I want and Ben loves it all (except for that clafoutis I made last month).

Another great thing is that we got ourselves a pup, a PUP! He is my pride and joy! Ben found him on a farm with ten other four-legged babies. He was the only white puppy and he was lagging behind the others, no one would play with him. I guess that Ben knew he'd fit in better with us because he brought Wilson home to me and we have been in love with that little ball of sass ever since.

Maine

I love Portland, Maine. I know, its kind of secluded from the rest of the country and no one has really ever been there, but I have and let me tell you, it is beautiful. The food there is top notch for such a small city. There is this spot on the East End where you will be driving along a house-lined street and suddenly you reach the edge of this huge hill where the only thing in front of you is the harbor and all sorts of sailboats perched. It is probably my favorite spot that I have ever been my whole life.

Ben lived in Maine for a couple of months. Before I could finalize my plans to move there, we had to come back home. We both miss it every day. Today I miss it the most. I've been thinking a lot about the beautiful loft we had with a fireplace and ocean views and a simple wide open kitchen. Today we found it for rent again on Craigslist starting in October. All I want to do is pack up our stuff as soon as possible and go back! It is so tempting to leave everything here for that beautiful sea-town with wonderful restaurants and free thinking people. Ben said we can't go back to Maine yet but I am going to wish and hope anyways, just in cases.

Indiana

I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is Megan. I grew up in Indiana, went to college in Indiana and have many friends in Indiana. For whatever reason, new experiences appeal to me, perhaps more than the average person, because when I graduated college, I spent six months in Indianapolis and with every passing day I needed to get out of here a little more. I ached to feel new things, test my limits, meet new people with free spirits who weren't afraid of leaving their comfort zones, and to just prove to myself that I could do it all. So I packed up my bags and moved to Brooklyn.

Brooklyn was the best decision I have ever made.

I spent just over three amazing years in the big apple and I will tell you this: there are just some things that are more important than where you are and what you do. One of those things is who you are with. Needless to say, I fell in love. And for whatever reason, in order to be together at last afters two years of a long distance relationship, I moved back home to be with my love.

Sigh, it is hard to do the one thing you've done your whole life after accomplishing the one thing you were afraid of doing your whole life. I couldn't be more thankful, or happier to be here with Ben, but I miss New York everyday. It is time to make the most of the situation I am in. Indiana, you mean well, but you've got some work to do, and I'm here to help.

asheville, nc

escaping to asheville unexpectedly last weekend was refreshing and it was really great to be with my sister and spend time with her on her birthday. the mountains were breathtaking and the restaurants there are so cute. you can find fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese at all of them. i finally had a real cappuccino again, i've been in withdrawl here in indiana.
